My Mom came to visit a few weeks ago.  I loved every minute of her being here and hated that she had to go.  It is so not fair that I have to live 3000 miles away from her.  No daughter should have to live that far away from their Mom and if you do... I understand your pain.

We didn't go out and paint the town or visit anywhere special, we just hung around the house, shopped a bit, and enjoyed time together.  My boys loved having her around.

I love doing projects with my Mom.  I love projects, but it takes so much time when I do them by myself - so I love having someone to do them with.  If JC and I do a project together our boys think that they can do it too and never leave us alone... the project becomes a frustrated mess.

I have wanted to do a backsplash in our kitchen since before we moved in.  I have dreamed about it, gone to Lowes multiple times, and always kept putting it off for the above reason.  I told JC all I wanted for my Birthday and Christmas this year was to get it done.  My Mom was planning on coming and was willing to help me, so it was perfect timing.

I had intended to go with a subway stone/brick look.  I was set on Natural Stone... nothing else.  I was NOT a fan of glass backsplashes.  I've never really liked them.  When I went to Lowes to pick everything out a few weeks before my Mom came I found this Natural Stone/Glass pattern that I loved.  I was kind of shocked at how much I liked the mix of the two.  I brought a sample home and tried it out and loved it.

Anyhow, long story short... I have great advice on doing backsplashes and next time it will go a lot more smoothly/quickly.  You live and learn... right?  BUT, I'm loving how it turned out.  It really changed my kitchen a lot.  It lightened it up and gave it a little bit more of a sophisticated feel.  It is also so easy to keep clean.

*The before picture was taken a few months after we moved in, (January 2010).  I was kind of addicted to decorating in Red. =)

Still loving it.  Thank You Mom for all of your hard work and patience. =)

This little boy is so happy when he gets to play or when someone is giving him attention... which is all the time.  I have been so lucky to have two VERY happy babies in a row.  Love these boys of mine.

Love Day

There was a lot of love at our house on Valentine's Day.  We started our day off with some pink doughnuts.  Zenock had his clothes picked out a couple of days in advance for his Valentine Party.  He wanted to look extra nice.  After we sent him off to school, my boys and I got ready and went on a special lunch date with the Mister.  I had been doing 14 days of "cheesy" Valentines to JC all month and the one for the day said,
"You treat me better than five guys!  Meet me there for lunch today."

One of our favorite spots to eat.  After lunch, naps, and an afternoon filled with sugar induced highs and smiles, my boys opened a few gifts from JC and I to tell them how much we love them.  (Mainly just dollar stuff, nothing super expensive... You know those things that your children beg for at the check-out stand and you have to say no to.  V-Day is my excuse to buy my kids that kind of stuff.)  We don't buy our kids hardly anything through out the year unless it is a Holiday/Birthday.  That way when they do get something on a special day like Valentine's, it makes it even more special and they are super excited.  I don't mind spoiling them a few times a year

My baby is covered in drool is every picture... just so you know.  He had a bib on all day, but as soon as the bib came off... yeah, well, here comes the drool.  But, his smile is too sweet and infectious not to share.

This one makes me laugh... perfect pictures with three boys do NOT exist. =)  P.S.  My sweet Zenock lost his first tooth while Grandma was here about three weeks ago!  He is just about to lose his second any day.

Don't mind the blurry image, but I loved the feeling in the room in this picture.  It was such a happy afternoon.  (That does not occur every day, I assure you.)

My boys are obsessed with this movie.  (Tom and Jerry Wizard of Oz.)  It is darling.  It has lots of the music from the movie in it and the animation is really cute.

He was so super excited about his "M&M light saber guy fan" he couldn't even look at me for a picture.

I love that my Zenock is still a super sweet, tender hearted boy.  So glad I could capture this moment. =)

We had such a wonderful day.  JC surprised me with flowers and a gift certificate to the Spa.  (I am still in shock.... he read my mind and couldn't have been more thoughtful.  A massage is SO needed and long overdue.)  Sure do love him and all he does for our family.

I love my boys.

My little Kamden has a major obsession with cars.  Not just any cars, they have to be "Cars" Cars.  He knows all of their names too, he calls them...  Queen, Mater, Mcmesser (McMissille), Chesco (Francesco), and my personal favorite is "Holly Shitwell" (should be Shiftwell).  (We try not to take that one to church to play with.  It can be very distracting to hear a two year old yelling to his older brother to give him back his "Holly Shitwell" car during Sacrament meeting.)  My Mom came to visit a few weeks ago and one of the first things Kamden did was show her all of his cars and tell her the names.

I love this age and phase he is in. He can drive his cars anywhere.  He takes them everywhere.  There are a few at the bottom of my diaper bag at all times and you betcha we have doubles, even quadruples of a few of them... just in case we lose one.  I don't want to forget the way he runs around the house with a car in each hand driving them over every surface as he passes by; the walls, the entertainment center, the couch, cabinets in the kitchen, the kitchen window, etc.  I love the noises he makes and how he can play for hours and is content at just lining them up.

We finally got rid of that darn binky about a month ago.  It fell behind the bed one night and we never found it again.  (It kind of disappeared).   He still asks for his "bink-ink" every night and when I leave the room, I have to promise that I will go look for it.  I hated taking it away... it meant my baby got just a little bit bigger.  I would love to keep Kamden little forever.  He is such a sweet, happy go lucky boy.

When Kamden saw these pictures he said, "HEY! That Kamden has a bink-ink!"  He has also told me that "Elmo gets a bink-ink? Where is Kamden's bink-ink?"

I bought new binkies for Nolan the other day and Kamden picked one up and told me he just wanted to hold it.  He walked around the house holding it for quite awhile.  He studied it and when I wouldn't look, he would sneak it in his mouth for just a second and then take it out.  It was kinda like a dagger to my heart.  I was ready to just go drag his binky out of his sock drawer and give it back to him.  If only it would make him stay little.  One of these days we are going to move to Neverland... before my kids grow up. =)

Happy Day

I am catching up on this little blog journal of mine.  I keep telling myself to push through it and keep going.  One day my kids will love me for it.  Lately, I have been using it as a reference... I forget from kid to kid when I do things, so I looked up when I started to feed Kamden rice cereal and there it was... right here.  I love being able to compare my babies weights, milestones, etc.  It is so great to be able to look back and to have my own family Encyclopedia of sorts. =)

My baby will be FIVE whole months in five days.  That is killing me.  It has gone by so fast.  Where did my infant go that just snuggled in my arms and smiled at me.   Now my baby kicks, wiggles, smiles, laughs, eats rice cereal, plays with toys, and thinks his brothers are the most hilarious people in the world.

Like I said, this baby has been growing up right before my eyes.  I am always going through baby clothes he has outgrown or pulling something out of the closet for him to use that he probably could've started using a month ago.

 photo IMG_3284-fivecopy.jpg

All my kids are growing up and apparently I'm letting go a lot as well.  I told myself I would never buy a "character shirt" for my child.  After going to Old Navy with Kamden he found this "McQueen" shirt and drug it around the store for an hour telling me he needed it.  Maybe it's the fact I can't get enough of his sweet voice or he has me wrapped around his finger, but we bought it and we wear it a lot.  This middle child of mine doesn't even have shoes that fit him right now... he wears his shark rain boots everywhere.
Seriously... Where did I go?  What happened to who I was?  This is or was not me a year ago. Something major happened to me when I had a 3rd child.  By the way, how is it everything becomes a weapon with little boys?

 photo IMG_3297-sixcopy.jpg

My Mom encouraged me to take the same "measuring" pictures that I did with Kamden so that I could compare my boys.  You can see Kamden's 4 month picture

At Nolan's 4 month check up his stats were:

Weight: 15.3 lbs
Height: 26 inches

He is in the 75th percentile for both.  I thought for sure he was bigger than Kamden, but he isn't.  He is the happiest baby.  He is very content to just lay in his chair, play with toys, eat his hand, and smile.  He is always smiling.
