We have had some wild and crazy baseball days this past week. We ended our regular season as the National League Champions... Go Dodgers!!! We then started the Tournament as the 3rd seed. We lost our first game of the Tournament (double elimination) and then won the next game. We then had to play the 1st and 2nd seed teams (The Yankees and the Twins) in a double header last Friday and were able to WIN both games. It was a long night at the ball park (like FOUR hours). We lost two games during the regular season to both teams, so the fact that we won was HUGE. We didn't think we would make it past the first game. SO proud of those boys - They fought hard! :)
We then had to play another double header on Saturday morning - bright and early.
(That IS a lot of baseball in less than 12 hours for a FIVE year old!)
We had to play the Braves. During the regular season we won one game against them and tied the 2nd game. They were the 4th seed team in the Tournament and had not lost a game yet, so if we won the first game we were going to have to play the 2nd game for the Championship.
WELL, we WON the first game. Not only won, but seriously won. (I think the final score was 21-6!) The boys were playing awesome. AND, then... I think they got really tired and completely worn out. It was super hot and it was their 4th game in the last 12 hours. SO, they didn't win the second game and ended up coming in 2nd place for the Tournament.
I still like to think we won it all and were the better team, since we only lost to them once out of the 4 games we played against them all season. Our team was a surprise team this year, we weren't a returning team and only had 2 players that had played on a team last Spring. It will be fun to see the team next year with seven returning players! It was a GREAT season and I am so proud of my Zenock and all of his hard work and practice that he put in.
To sum it ALL up we took 1st place as the National League Champions and 2nd place in the Tournament out of FOURTEEN teams.
Sure love my Zenock! Even though he drives me crazy most days, he is such a great boy. I am so, so proud of him. :)
We have some great video footage of the games and I'm thinking of posting it to youtube, BUT, I will warn you all to try and ignore my crazy, tiger mother yelling and cheering. :) In the mean time, you can enjoy my little Kamden's home run... He could and would do this ALL day if we let him.
