We had a sweet, simple, and very relaxing Christmas. We have been spoiled having JC home for over a week! As soon as 7pm hits our kids go to bed... Not really because we are strict, but because they go to bed so easy. No matter what time Zenock goes to bed, he still wakes up around 6-7 in the morning. SO, we figure we might as well get him to bed earlier. Kamden is our sleep-a-holic... He sleeps from 7pm until 9 am most every day. We've loved being able to sleep in a little bit, while Zenock's been playing with Christmas toys all week. Putting our kids to bed early gives us a chance to be together, watch a movie. We've been catching up on lots of movies this past week, passing levels on Lego Batman (I know it's a kids game...) and eaten our fair share of Oreo shakes. It has been so great to have a little vacation at home. JC goes back to work tomorrow and Zenock starts school again. Although I normally dread it, I am excited for a little bit of normalcy, schedule, routine, and some healthy food again. As well as a clean house that lasts for more than an hour! Call me Scrooge, but I was ready to take down Christmas decor last Sunday. I patiently waited until Tuesday when I couldn't handle another ornament pulled off the tree.
Making cookies for Santa. I held off baking until the last possible minute Saturday afternoon and then decided we needed some treats. Zenock is always a great helper in the kitchen.
Kamden's favorite spot for the last month has been under the Christmas tree. We have spent lots of evenings laying under the lights.
My happy boy on Christmas Eve. He is such a blessing and joy in our life. =)
We feel so blessed that we have so many good friends we can share the Holidays with while we are away from family. Friday night (before Christmas) we had our Ward (church) party. I loved having it so close to Christmas and spending time with people we love. Christmas Eve we spent with more friends from our ward. Afterwards, we came home and let the boys open a present... always pj's and a book. We read their books and then sent them off to bed so Santa could come.
One day we will get rid of the darn binky so that you can see the adorable smile behind it.
I think he just gets excited about anything. Christmas is the perfect holiday for having a dramatic child. He makes you feel like a RockStar for any present you give him. (Even pajamas!)
We have early morning church and didn't want to be in a rush to open presents. So we got ready, enjoyed the sweet spirit of a musical sacrament program, came home, and jumped back into our pj's to open presents.
Christmas Day 2011
My boys were so fun to watch open presents. Zenock was so excited... his Christmas consisted of Superheros. I think he has something from each of them now. He told Santa (the 5 different times he saw him), that he really wanted a Batman Cave and Batman video game. We went to the mall a week before Christmas with a friend and when Santa asked if he had been good he said, "Just a little bit." Santa thanked him for his honesty and told him to try a little harder. We laughed and kept telling him he really needed to be good to get a Batman Cave.
Zenock's Batman Cave and his Nintendo DS were by far his favorite presents.
Kamden loves playing basketball. When he shoots it, he says "go." We call it "Go-ball" around here. He loves playing on a little hoop just his size.
Aunt Kelly gave my boys this awesome castle tent. It may never come down. They are always in and out and will play with the tent for hours. Zenock's favorite game to play is "Tornado." You have to save all the animals and hide in the tent before the Tornado comes. He and his friends also play the game at school. It is fair to say they are very aware of Tornado's. Can we just skip March - May this year???
It is always great to be able to skype with family on Christmas.
We were so excited to spend Christmas day evening with our Alabama family the Anderson's. They made us an awesome Christmas dinner and we loved the company! They have made living away from family so much easier. So glad to have them here in Alabama. =)
Zenock opening the batman cave... Enjoy!
We spent a day at the Space and Rocket Center with our favorite family over the break. We couldn't stop laughing at these two on a ride. They are so much fun together. =)
We enjoyed good friends, food, and laughs for New Years. We are happy to say goodbye to 2011 and excited to see what may happen in 2012. I feel like last year was an in between year. A lot of different trials... In the last little while I've had a lot of down days, (maybe it's that seasonal depression already creeping in.) I don't set a lot of New Years goals, but try to pick a word of the year to live by. Last year my word was "Simplify." I tried not to go overboard with things and to simplify life's events. For 2012 my word is "Positive." I want to stay Positive no matter the situation, the day, or whatever happens. I want to just be happy and try and smile through it all. =)
