Saved by the Bell...

I {heart} Zack Morris... At least I used too... back in 1993.
He was hot. :)

JC and I watched this awhile back and laughed so hard. I thought I would post it to bring back all the good memories!

Good Times at Bayside.

It went by way too fast...

I had a ton of fun having my Mom and Emily come and visit. I never wanted the ELEVEN days to end. They helped out immensely the last week that JC was in Kansas... (I have a VERY active two year old... when they arrived, I was ready to throw in the towel. :) Literally, on the way to the airport to pick them up, while sitting in a huge traffic jam (I hate DC traffic!!!), my "sweet" little Zenock decided to figure out how to UN-BUCKLE and climb out of his car seat! I totally freaked out and with one hand driving stop and go, tried to get him strapped in with the other hand.

I swear Zenock is the sweetest, most lovable little boy in the world. He will give you all the hugs and kisses in the world and absolutely loves to be cuddled. BUT, don't let it fool you. He knows how to get into trouble faster than a 100 mph fastball.
Seriously, no joke.
I have to stay constantly aware of where he is and what he is doing. He has figured out how to climb on top of everything, push buttons, open doors, open child-locked cupboards, etc. I should just forget about the toys next Christmas... he doesn't play with them.

ANYHOW... we'll save that all for another post.

We had so many fun things planned every day. We did TONS of shopping and hit all the major outlet shops, stores, boutiques, and malls. We quite literally shopped until we dropped.
We spent two days touring DC (yes, it can be done...) Since, I have done most of it, I could tell them what was worthwhile to see, what it was, etc. It was kind of fun to be a personal tour guide. I feel like such a pro at driving around DC now... I actually know where I am going!

We saw: The Monuments, Ford's Theatre, Capitol, White House, Library of Congress, Supreme Court, Natural History Museum, American History Museum, Air and Space Museum, Arlington Cemetery, Union Station, China Town, and The Holocaust Museum... all in TWO DAYS!
About the Holocaust Museum... SURE GLAD we went on Tuesday. We were there exactly 24 hours before the shooting took place on Wednesday. We totally remember seeing the Security Guard that was killed. Very nice guy. It seems so surreal when things like this happen. We were out in Tyson's Corner on Wednesday when JC called to tell me... I thought he was joking and couldn't believe it. We very seriously would have been there if we had gone on Wednesday.
Scary to think about.

Mom and Emily at the Lincoln Memorial

Us at the WWII Memorial... (It was SO hot, humid, and bright!)

Zenock's cheese face... JC had my camera in Kansas, so Emily was the official photographer of their vacation. I have quite a few of these kind of pictures now. Love em.

It was seriously so HOT and HUMID! It hasn't been that hot the entire time we've lived here. Zenock had a great time splashing in the fountain.
(Don't you love my hot fashion trend of rolled up jeans... All fashion sense goes out the window when it's that hot!)

On our way to the car... we were all wiped out.

We were able to meet and greet some of the famous local celebrities from past and present.

OF course they were all made of wax... We had a GREAT time at Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum.

I made some bad mistakes and ended up being interrogated by J. Edgar Hoover...
(The FBI guy.)

Emily got lucky and was able to meet the President and First Lady... WE were thrilled... (sarcasm intended)

Zenock was off doing some Presidential duties...

Mom was over in the corner with George...
(Don't worry DAD... remember... even though she thinks George is hot... he's made of wax!)

We finally found Emily doing what "almost" SIXTEEN year old's do best...
(She spent most of her vacation texting and talking to 8 different BOYS!)

We met up with Will...

and Tom...

Emily found her first "dream" date

And, Zennie and I played a little baseball with Babe Ruth....
(Zenock was obsessed with trying to get his bat.)

We visited the Washington D.C. Temple the next day...

And enjoyed Mount Vernon and Alexandria the next. Zenock had quite the conversation with Dr. Craig Jessop at Mount Vernon.

We threw a little Birthday party for Emily and my Mom on Sunday... Zenock loved the cupcakes!

They left Monday to go home and we were so sad they had to leave. It went by way too fast! Zenock still asks where "Aunt Emi and Grandma went?"
We had a GREAT time and wish it could have lasted longer! We are now enjoying a week of peace and quiet until we have more guests and start running full force again. We are excited for our adventures with JC's parents and sister Kristen! Can't wait to see you guys!

Sweet Sixteen...

to this cute girl...

My Sister Emily turns 16 today! Woohoo!!!

Emily is such a cute girl and is a BLAST to hang out with. She is hilarious and is always making me laugh. She is always calling me and telling me crazy stories about the things she has done or said with her friends. We had so much fun while she was visiting us. (post coming soon.)

I honestly cannot believe Emily is sixteen already! When my Mom was here, we were laughing at all the funny things she did as a kid... (I was nine when she was born, so I remember her childhood better than my own!)

Just a couple of the funny things she used to do:
*She got a new outfit for Christmas when she was 5 and wore it EVERYDAY for the rest of the year. She would get so mad when we tried to get her to wear something else. My Mom would wash it every night just for her. :)
*She used to dress up all the time and make up characters... We have tons of pictures of her "in character" and putting on a show. One of JC's first memories of her was when she dressed up as Big Foot... (yeah??) and ran around the house banging on the windows.

We are so excited for all of her adventures to come and we can't wait to hear all of her dating stories....

We currently have a BET going on with Emily that if she stays un-kissed until she graduates JC and I owe her a pretty big chunk of cash....
Pretty sure we won't have to pay-out... she won't last long.
But, just to make sure... I need your help! All you cute single, datable (as in the 16-18 year range) guys or girls with brothers that age... I would love to get your help on this one... haha. :) (Good Luck Em!)

We Love you! Happy, Happy Birthday Aunt Emi! We miss you tons!

Also.... Happy Birthday to my Brother Chad too!!! (Sorry, I don't have a "cute" picture of you to post.) Hope you have a great day! I'd call, but Mom says you are in Henrieville for the Summer and you don't have service.

Yeah... I know, it's about time. :) It has been a crazy few weeks and it's only going to get more busy as the Summer goes on. I'm not complaining at all... It's all exciting and fun stuff, but it leaves little time for blogging and updating.

JC had to attend some training in Kansas for a couple of weeks... (It was a LOOONG first week just Zenock and I. I was so glad my Mom and Emily were able to come and stay with me the second week!)
JC was able to coordinate with a lot of the friends he went to school with last year, so that they could all attend the training together. A few of the LDS guy friends from the group were able to get together also.

From the stories I've heard... They all had way too much fun and I am thinking that for sure when their next training comes along, all of us wives are going to be going so we don't miss out! :)

The boys had the weekend off and decided to take a road trip up to Nauvoo and around the Church History Sites. JC texted me a hundred times while he was there and now tells me every day how beautiful it was and that he wants to go back and LIVE there. I don't blame him. The pictures make it look amazing and I'm sure they don't do it justice.

JC took a hundred pictures, but I thought I would just share a few of my favorites... I can't wait to plan a family vacation and go and visit with JC. Now that he has been, I can have my own personal tour guide!

The Community of Christ temple/church (formerly the RLDS).
{JC, Shawn, & Mike}
They were able to get a tour of the temple and I feel so bad for the young girl giving the tour to FIVE returned missionaries. JC said they asked question after question and by the end she was almost shaking. (If I were her, I would have seriously turned and ran out the door!)

The Boys... Top: Shawn, Sim, (random guy who wanted to be in their picture).
Bottome: Jeremy, Mike, JC

I love this picture... I miss being able to see farms and fields (and mountains). WE don't see that up here in the BIG city.

I think this is the Missouri... (or the Mississippi...) I'll ask again.

Looking out from the steps of the Nauvoo Temple

The Nauvoo Temple

This is a bronze sculpture in front of the temple, titled: "The Prophet's Last Ride"

On the plaque underneath it reads:
"On the morning of June 24, 1844, Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum left their families, home, and fellow Saints, for the last time. Traveling on horseback, they paused on this bluff. Joseph looked admiringly at the unfinished temple and the city of Nauvoo and declared:

This is the loveliest place and the best people underneath the heavens; little do they know the trials that await them.

Joseph and Hyrum then continued on to Carthage, Illinois, where they faced legal charges and eventual death at the hands of a mob."

JC had a great trip! I am thinking that I am now in need and deserve a little vacation myself. :) Thanks for everyone who made his trip, training, and vacation great!
