FiRsT HaiRCuT... EVER!

Last night we decided it was FINALLY time to give Zenock his very first haircut... It was a pretty traumatic event for me and took every ounce of courage for me to cut his hair. I just couldn't do the actual cutting and made JC do it. I still wasn't sure I was ready and then all of a sudden JC was holding a piece of hair in his hands... Why are these things so hard for me as a Mom?!? I love Zenock's baby hair, but I guess it was time...

.... BEFORE ....

I'll admit it was getting just a little long.

Notice how RED Zenock's face is... He SCREAMED the entire time. He cried and screamed harder than he EVER has before. It was a pretty traumatic event for him as well. I ended up being the one to hold him down so that JC could finish cutting his hair. After we were done, I just wanted to cry with him... ok, I did. It was ALL gone... as was all that was left of my little baby boy.

***

SIDE PROFILE: It got cut pretty short. (JC says he used the longest attachement, but come to find out... he didn't! There were words exchanged...)

BACK: After a day of getting used to it... I really like it and I think my little boy looks pretty cute.

FRONT: My handsome little boy. I think he looks even more like his handsome dad now. :)

Carin, I know it is so hard when you do that first haircut! I was so sad when Braxton had his done! With Wyatt it was still sad but not as dramatic if you know what I mean. You are such a great mom and I am so glad that your life is going so well! I am so glad that you all had a great time trick or treating Zenock looked so adorable! What a cute family you have!

So cute! Only time I have ever cut any of my kids hair was with Joey back in May... and you saw that~ BALD! I also had it on the longest attachment, and he was basically bald by the time I was done. I know take him to the stylist. Can't take the crying anymore either... he does okay with me holding him, not torturing him!

It makes them look so much older when they get that first haircut huh?! I have to say, he looks darling with the new do though!! I love that you posted a picture of his little face beaming red from crying...my little 3 almost 4 year old still fights me and cries while I cut his hair...it is so sad, but it is something that needs to be done!! Hopefully the next cut will not be so traumatic for the little guy :)

Sorry it was traumatic, it does look cute though! I think i'd have some words with Rob if he used anything but the longest attachment. I can just imagine the exchange. :) I hope all is going well. Zenock is getting so big!

I love it. Although I cannot believe you were able to wait so long! You're SO lucky. Lucas was 6 months old when he got his first hair cut. I was sooooo sad. But it's actually probably a good thing my husband made me do it. We took him to a barber otherwise it would have never happened. Looking back now I realize that it was probably a form of child abuse letting his hair look so ridiculous, but I just wasn't ready to let go. To see what I mean, in my archive click on 2007 then on November. To see a before picture click on He's Standing and then to see the after click on First Hair Cut. It's HILARIOUS! If nothing else it will really make you appreciate what a great head of hair Zenock has.

So brave! I hope that the next cut isn't as traumatic for either Zenock or his mom :) I love the photo of you rocking Zenock. It is moments like that that seem to help me forget all the other moments that make me want to pull out all my hair. Zenock is so lucky to have such a great mom!

Carin,
He definitely does look cute, but maybe you should take over the haircutting from now on. :)

Carin,
I'm not going private, yet. When the child comes we probably will, however, I'm trying to start a journal blog, just for me, and I don't want everyone to read it, so that's why I'm asking, but it's not working!

I can't believe you made it this long without giving him a haircut! I had to take care of Trevor's mullet at about 4 months old.
Poor Zenock...I can't believe how red his face is. I would have cried too. But it turned out so cute.

First haircuts are always hard because they dont look like babies anymore and they start looking like toddlers and to me that is so sad!! I love that he screamed and you had to hold him down becuase we still have to do that to my almost 4 year old it makes you not want to cut it. Also Shaun said to tell you hello and he loved the Manny Ramirez costume very creative!!

JC!! Hey.. it's Julia (Munns) Burdych! I was on Carson's blog and spotted you. It looks like your cute family is doing well. It's fun to be able to see Kristen every now and then at family functions. And it is so true... the first haircut is so hard!!! He looks adorable!
