Merry Christmas!

Do kids have a sensor in them for when you are sick, tired, or have a headache that makes them become more clingy? I caught Zenock's cold and was so sick yesterday and all he wanted to do was to be held. To make it worse... I took nyquil and went to bed at 8:00. I had to wake up 3 times during the night in a nyquil haze to comfort him. He never wakes up at night! Oh well... I feel so much better today. JC is taking me on a date tonight... a real date! We do go out and on dates a lot, but we always take Zenock with us. Tonight is the FIRST time since we have moved that we are leaving Zenock at home with a friend and we are going out by ourselves! I am so excited. We are going with friends to see an off broadway touring production of Peter Pan. Peter Pan is JC's favorite movie, story, play, etc. We have wanted to see it forever, so it should be a lot of fun. (Thank you again Lesha! We owe you big time!)
I am not sure when I am going to get to post again... (it may be a long time.) I have so much to do this week. We leave Friday for Utah and will be there until the 31st. Wahoo!!! We are SO excited to see all of our family and friends. So until next time...

Our Christmas

Since we are coming home for Christmas and you don't get to see any of our decorations, I thought I would put a couple of pictures up of our Christmas Tree and decorations.
Zenock loves the presents... I am constantly pulling him away. When JC and I were first married, we bought these trees for decoration and when Christmas came around we didn't have money for another tree, so we just used our 3 trees. Since then we haven't had room for a "real" tree and this year we aren't going to be at our home for Christmas, so I guess it is our tradition now to use our 3 trees.
Zenock cannot wait to open all of his presents... what a spoiled kid!
I have wanted these stockings from Pottery Barn Kids for forever. I kept telling myself to just wait every year and maybe I would find something else I like. My mom made all of our stockings and we each had one to call our own with our names on. It was always so fun to get them out and put them up each year. I wanted my kids to have a stocking to call their own as well, so this year I finally gave in and just bought them. Each year they come out with different graphics on the stockings, but the stockings are the same. They are perfect and were totally worth it. I love them.

He just keeps going and going...

Saturday night we did the usual routine... We gave Zenock his bath, put his pj's on, gave him his bottle, and then he falls right asleep... except for this night. He was wide awake. He just wasn't done playing. This is what happens when we put the toys away too early!
He was SO excited to play!

Dear Santa...

Last night we had our ward Christmas party. Our ward is SO much fun. We have made such great friends with everyone. Here are a few pictures with our good friend Mr. C. We weren't sure how Zenock was going to act, so JC sat on his lap too. JC asked Santa for a Wii, Call of Duty 4, and the new hummer.... not much.
I love this picture. It had to be my child that would pull off Santa's beard and ruin it for the rest of the kids. (Good thing we were last in line.) Zenock looks scared, but he really wasn't... he was probably more scared of us making faces trying to get his attention. :)

First Tooth and More...

It has been a couple of CRAZY weeks at our house. It all started when Zenock became a little boy instead of our baby. First of all, Zenock got his first tooth! He bumped his mouth last week and I thought he just had a little sore on his gum, well I was checking it out a couple of days later and it was a tooth! It is on the top, so I was not expecting it. I had been watching the bottom ones more closely. Second, I am chasing him everywhere! The only peace we get is when he watches his Baby Einstein. (Thank goodness!) We are constantly moving things out of his reach, blocking paths off, pulling him away from presents, and loving every minute of it. His cute little crawl makes me laugh. I can only describe it as a worm... he starts out on all fours and ends on all fours, but the in between is more of an army crawl. (I will try and get a video put on here later, we bought a video camera for Christmas, but I'm still trying to figure it out.) I have also found out that he is ALL boy. We have a duck that quacks and sings and at first he was a little scared of it, but I think Zenock and the duck have come to an understanding, as I witnessed the other day. I walked into the room to find him wrestling and growling at the duck. He had also pulled the bow off of the ducks head. Since then, the duck has become a favorite toy. This last week Zenock has been really sick with the cold. I feel so sorry for him. The first couple of nights he was so stuffed up and couldn't breathe, so we slept on the lovesac together. What a wiggle worm!!! He slept great, but I didn't sleep at all. It brought back SO many memories of when he was born. The only way we could get him to sleep was laying him on our chests, I think I spent the first two months sleeping that way in the lovesac. (No wonder, I don't remember anything!) Anyhow, being sick has left us grounded at home chasing each other around the house. (Good thing I Christmas shop early!) Here are a few pictures from our week. This is Zenock's superman pose... after he crawls for awhile and wants to be picked up. He belly flops onto his tummy and picks up his arms and legs like he is flying.
This is a real Zenock face. I love it.
He loves to crawl under, around, over, and through... he never takes the easy way.
I love this rocking chair. My grandpa made it for me when I was little and now I get to have it for my kids. It is the perfect size! (It even matches my house.)
And here it is... Zenock's first tooth! We really are hoping another one pops through quickly so that it doesn't look so much like a Snaggletooth.... We have been singing, "All Zenock wants for Christmas are his TWO front teeth." Oh well, he still looks pretty cute.

Holiday Edition of Getting to Know You.

I just got this e-mail and thought it would be a fun post for the holidays. I would love to read everyone else's answers... so consider yourself tagged if you read this!
Welcome to the 2007 Holiday Edition of Getting to Know Your Friends!

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Egg Nog… especially my moms…. SO Good!
2. Does Santa wrap the presents or just sit them under the tree? Wrapped! (unless they are too big to wrap.)
3. Red or white lights? White
4. Do you hang mistletoe? In college… I don’t need to anymore.
5. When do you put your decorations up? I like to have them up the weekend after Thanksgiving.
6. What is your favorite holiday dish? Honey Baked Ham & Christmas Salads.
7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? My dad had to get up to milk the cows and we had to wait for him to finish before we could open presents. When my brothers got older, they would get up and do it for him so we could open them sooner!
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I think gradually over time I caught on.
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? It just depends on our mood.
10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? We actually have three trees that are different heights. They have ribbon and white lights. All our decorations are snowmen and there is a red star on the tallest one that says “Believe.”
11. Snow: Love it or hate it? As long as me or my family aren’t driving in it, I love it. I admit I do miss it already.
12. Can you ice skate? I wish… (I grow wings when I ice skate.)
13. Do you remember your favorite gift? It would probably be my engagement ring and being proposed to on Christmas Eve.
14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Spending time with family and friends!
15. What is your favorite holiday dessert? My mom’s peanut clusters or gingerbread cookies.
16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? On Christmas morning we always have a big breakfast with my family and my Grandma. It consists of sausage, eggs, blueberry muffins, and my mom's Eggnog… mmmm.
17. What is on top of your tree? A red star that says “Believe.”
18. Which do you like best giving or receiving? I like them both, however the feeling of finding the perfect present and giving far exceeds the feeling of receiving!
19. Christmas Song? Depends on my mood… I really like the Michael Buble Let it snow CD, the Polar Express Soundtrack, and the song “Mary, Did you know.”
20. Do you like candy canes? Not candy canes, but I love the soft peppermint candies. I buy a big tub and take them everywhere with me.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

Changes...

Changes are hard for me... even small changes. I have been wanting to change our blog for awhile, but I have been so worried about what it might look like... well, here it is, good or bad. :) If you don't like it, it will probably change again... sometime.

We had a friend take some family pictures yesterday. They turned out SO great. Thanks Leesha! Here are a couple of my favorites.

I love the colors in the background... I have an obsession with leaves and fall.

I love Zenock in this one... fingers and all. He loves his fingers.

Eight Months Old...

Time passes by SO quick when you are having fun. I can't believe Zenock is already eight months old... two days ago! A year ago next week we found out we were having a little boy. So much can change in a year. He is at such a fun stage and we are enjoying every minute of him.
Zenock loves to sit in the lovesac and watch his Baby Einstein movie. We have a few of them, but he is pretty particular and only likes one of them. (Check out his Argyle socks... I love
them!)
The other day I put his bouncy chair up while I was getting ready. A few minutes later the jumping stopped... I stepped out to see this. He was sound asleep! It was so cute.

We love our sleep at the Larson house. On Saturday mornings I usually will bring Zenock back to bed with me after I feed him. This is pretty much what happens though.... he is such a wiggle worm.
JC got home Friday night from a week in Colorado. It has been SO nice to have him home. I definately have a new appreciation for everything he does and all of his hard work. We missed him so much. I'm hoping he will do a post and tell all about his trip, but just in case he doesn''t... here is a picture from his trip.
Something new or well confirmed for the week is that our child is a show off. Every time we go anywhere he can be crying and upset, but as soon as we walk into a store or he sees someone paying attention to him, he flashes his big "cheese" smile. (He is such a fake.) He LOVES attention. He is a pretty mild baby and can play on the floor forever by himself, but as soon as he is in a public place (such as church) he becomes so hyper and active. He dives all over us for toys and has to show off his jumping skills to everyone. Yesterday at church, I spent 95 percent of my time in the hall just letting him try to crawl and be himself. I guess this is what mom's do.... right? We sure love our little Zennie.
